Ingredients
basic ingredients:
500 gr pasta noodles (fusilli)
300g mayonaisse
2-3 green onions
5-6 gherkins
2-3 eggs
some fresh parsley

How to make German Noodle Salad
this is a simple and traditional german dish and every family has their own recipe. it can be prepared for the next days picnic or barbecue. its perfect with fried fish or meat, served with a cold beer. you can experiment with some additional or other ingredients, depending on what you want to serve with it. i will give some hints about some variations while I describe the basic method.
preperations:
hard-boil the eggs
cook the noodles al dente
let both cool down
mix all the other ingredients (onions and parsley finely chopped) in a salad bowl. add some vinegar from the gherkins
chop the boiled eggs into tiny pieces, leave some slices for decoration, if you like
at least mix everything and let it rest at least one hour in the fridge
variations: instead of noodles try cooked, peeled and sliced potatoes and - voila - you´ve got german Kartoffelsalat.
- add fruit like finely chopped apples, oranges, pineapple or mango (served with fried fish)
- add roasted nuts like almonds or hazelnuts
- add sliced sausage or ham
- add vegetables like cooked peas, cooked carrots, cucumber or tomatoes
- try spices like yellow curry powder or herbs like basil or chervil
