I tried your recipe and really liked it! It was quick and easy (and I'm a lazy cook, so when I say quick and easy, I mean quick and easy!) And it was very tasty! (Because I'm lazy I didn't bother to deseed the cuc - I used the little Japanese cucumbers and they didn't seem very seedy. And I didn't bother to cut up and deseed a chili but used chili powder instead and it still tasted great! Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

Yummy recipe!!! Just a suggestion, if you want to make it a bit more high-end for guests, use instead jamon iberico de bellota - aka pata negra or black hoof-. Iberico has a strong and delicious flavor, I buy mine from BuyJamon.com BuyJamon.com the market place for iberico ham.

ah, tried your recipe and while it was delicious, less soy sauce and hon-dashi can probably be used without sacrificing the taste at all... i halved your 1 cup of dashi requirement and still found it almost overpowering.
