Ingredients

  • 400g pasta penne
  • 100g bacon
  • half a onion
  • one or two wedges of garlic
  • mushrooms, i'd use chanterelles
  • a cup of cream

I've allways liked pasta, especially when the recipe gives you a lot of freedom. A simple cream based sause gives you the freedom to adapt it to your own liking. This is one my favorite way of making pasta.

  1. Put the bacon, onion, mushrooms and garlic in a frying pan.
  2. Boil some water for the pasta.
  3. When the things in the pan have fried a couple of minutes, put the cream in and lower the heat.
  4. When the pasta is almost al dente, put them in the pan with the cream and bacon and let it boil for a few minutes.

And voila! We're done!

i tried this tonight and it was pretty good. unfortunately, i'm away at college and dont have a good chopping knife so my bacon was way to big and my mushrooms and onions were also bigger than i'd have liked. i definitely would have put the bacon in first for a bit to allow it to get a bit crispier than it did but i guess that's just my liking. i also was having pasta issues. the burner on my lame stove just wasnt boiling the water so my sauce sat for quite a bit. all in all, a very pleasing and filling dish.

ooh, i did the same thing. one of my all time fav recipe. i added generous amounts of black pepper and also thickened the sauce by drizzling egg yolks in after it's removed from the heat... oh no, now i'm craving for this...
