How to make Simple lentil dhal (dal)
Be careful, as once the lentils soften into a thick soup, it may burn the pan.
Serve with naan bread and/or long-grain rice.
Serves 2-3.
Wash the red lentils and drain. Simmer gently.
In the mean time, peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Add them to the lentils.
Skim the white foam off the surface as it appears.
In the mean time, get a frying pan and fry the garlic, onion and ginger until the onion darkens.
The lentil/potato stew will take 20-30 minutes until the potatoes soften. It should be cooked very gently.
Add the fried ingredients
Immediately before serving add the oregano and vinegar and mix well.
