How to make Apple Pie
Macerating and cooking the apples a bit before loading into the crust develops a sexy gungy caramel-like syrup, which binds the filling into a toothsome mass. It also makes a packed pie that doesn't deflate upon baking. Boys love this pie.

I've heard that pre-cooking your pie filling will cause the pie to not deflate, but I have never tried it myself. I love your little apple cut-outs, by the way.
